I had the opportunity to attend the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh (GRIP) as apart of my continuing education as a professional genealogist. Each year GRIP offers an array of genealogy courses including courses focusing on DNA, genetic genealogy, and forensic genealogy. This year, I completed the Practical Genetic Genealogy course under the auspices of Dr. Blaine Bettinger, author of The Family Tree Guide to DNA Testing and Genetic Genealogy.

The co-instructors of the Practical Genetic Genealogy course were Paula Williams and Dana Leeds (The creator of The Leeds Method which is used by many throughout the field of genetic genealogy).
