March continues its roar into spring in our nation’s capital with more people throughout the country recognizing the continuing challenges that people in our communities face on a daily basis. These challenges are often met with resistance from many individuals and groups in our country who are resistant to change and reluctant to see all individuals thrive and grow. This right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness so eloquently expressed in the Declaration of Independence.
The invite-only event was held at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. At the Descendant Communities Social Innovation Lab attendees were given a charge from renowned archaeologist, Dr. Michael Blakey to go back into our communities and strengthen and renew our commitment to ensuring our family legacies and rightful places in American History.
Are you willing to take up the charge? What can you do personally to ensure that your family’s legacy remains intact for generations to come? How much family history can you share with your loved ones? Do you want to learn more? Just a few questions for us to all ponder.
